This year at O’Loughlin Catholic College the Year 8 Camps have been scheduled for Week Nine of Term Two (June 18th – 22nd). The Camp venue is at Hayes Creek Campground located approximately 170km from Darwin.
As the camp lasts for three days and two nights, the year level will be split into two groups, the first going Monday to Wednesday and the second group going Wednesday to Friday.
We are working alongside Haileybury Rendall School (previously Kormilda College) to offer this fantastic program for the Year 8 students. O’Loughlin Catholic College Teaching staff will be assigned to each group and Haileybury Rendall School Outdoor Education Instructors will facilitate and lead all adventure activities.
While on the camp, students will be camping in tents at Hayes Creek Campground for the one night of the camp. The other night of the camp will be a mini expedition to Depot Creek. Whilst staying at the Hayes Creek Campground, students will do abseiling and mountain bike riding as well as generally learning camp craft and cooking skills to prepare them for their year 9 (and potentially year 10) trips.
