Year Nine camps will be held in weeks Three & Four of Term Three. The camp venue is Jindare Station located approximately 245km from Darwin and 3km from Pine Creek. It is a program that we have previously run in 2015 and 2016 within the College, and it is compulsory for all Year Nine students to attend.
Due to the large numbers in Year Nine we have had to split the year level into two smaller groups. The first group will be going on camp Tuesday to Friday Week Three & the second group will go Tuesday to Friday Week Four.
Please be aware that we are working alongside Haileybury Rendall School (previously Kormilda College) to offer this fantastic program. O’Loughlin Catholic College Teaching staff will be assigned to each group and Haileybury Rendall School Outdoor Education Instructors will facilitate and lead all adventure activities.
The program will provide Year Nine students with unique opportunities to participate in a variety of outdoor adventure activities. The activities are designed to test them physically and mentally, and will allow the students to explore their own abilities whilst completing activities they may not have done before.
Furthermore, the camp aims to increase trust and friendship amongst the year group by pushing the limits of their comfort zone. This camp is more challenging than previous middle years camps, due to the fact that every night is spent in a new location and students will be required to carry their own gear. Therefore, personal development lessons will be dedicated to preparing them for the camp.
