Head of House

The Head of House plays a significant role in the wellbeing, pastoral care and academic performance for students within their assigned house.

They are responsible for developing an intrinsic connection with students and families within their house and work with the Leader of Wellbeing for Learning and the Year Level Personal Development Leaders to create opportunities for academic, social, emotional and spiritual growth for students.

The Head of House will oversee the overall general progress of students and will be the first point of contact for students and families if extra support is required.

Blake Launer is the Head of House for Mackillop. Originally from Adelaide's northern suburbs (Eudunda), he completed his Education degree in 2020 and has been teaching ever since. He has a strong passion for Sport, Health, and Wellbeing and has taught a range of subjects, including Maths, Humanities, PE, Science, and Health, covering students from Year 1 to Year 12.

Blake is committed to supporting the well-being and success of students in Mackillop and the wider school community. He is passionate about building positive relationships with students and fostering engaging, inclusive learning spaces. He values embracing students from all backgrounds and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. Approachable and dedicated, he looks forward to engaging with both students and families to help strengthen the school community.

Mr. Anthony Judd

Anthony (Tony) Judd is the Head of Gsell House and was born in South Australia. He commenced his teaching career in 1983 before undertaking a distinguished 26-year career as a full-time professional cricket coach and athlete development manager across Tasmania, Scotland, and the Northern Territory. In 2023, Tony returned to teaching and currently serves at O’Loughlin Catholic College. He brings extensive professional experience, deep personal insight, and a strong commitment to nurturing the holistic development of students, contributing positively to the life of the College within a supportive, faith-filled Catholic educational community.

Liza Bowers is a seasoned classroom teacher with a rich background in the field of education, particularly in working with diverse student populations. Her unwavering dedication to lifelong learning is truly commendable, recognising the ever-evolving nature of education and the constant need for growth and fresh perspectives.

In her current role as Head of Collins House, Liza is committed to nurturing students through a pivotal stage in their educational journey. With her wealth of experience and passion for student success, brings with it valuable guidance and support to both students and fellow educators alike. Liza's proactive approach and empathetic demeanor make her a trusted ally in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. 

Mrs. Holly Smith

Holly Smith, the Head of House for Hunter and is originally from Melbourne's eastern suburbs. After completing her Master of Education in 2018, she has taught in various locations, including Melbourne, Far North Queensland, and Darwin, across Catholic Education, Lutheran Education, Independent schools, and the public system. With a passion for Food, Art, and Design, Holly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and Health. She has taught subjects such as Food and Hospitality, Health and Human Development, Digital Design, and Visual Arts, covering students from year 6 to year 12.

Holly is dedicated to supporting the well-being and success of students in Hunter and the broader school community. She is passionate about fostering positive relationships with students and creating engaging learning environments. Holly strongly believes in embracing students from diverse backgrounds and works to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all.
