Year 8

In Year 8, students are allocated to a Pastoral Care class, with a designated Pastoral Care Teacher who sees them each morning for Homeroom, for a Personal Development lesson every Friday and also teaches them for one or more subjects. Their Pastoral Care Teacher is their key point of contact each day

The Year 8 Personal Development program endeavours to facilitate students' social and emotional learning in an environment where they feel supported, happy and safe.

Students have their core subjects (Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Religious Education and Physical Education) with their Pastoral Care Group. Each semester, they undertake three elective subjects (Art, Drama, Design and Technology: Food, ICT, Languages and Music) with students from each of the Year 8 Pastoral Care Groups.

Students in Year 8 are able to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to engage their learning styles and interests. Lastly, through their subjects and time and the College, they are encouraged to develop accountability and responsibility for their choices, an awareness of digital citizenship and decision-making, while being valued and respected for their individuality.
